christian: chrEEs- tee- an (like AN orange)
Louboutin: loo- boo- t ANd (remove the D at the end of "and".it was the nearest sound effect I could think of.read it like AND,but without the D,or it would be AN and that's not the same sound)
When you pronounce it, say it a little FAST, it will lessen your accent and make you more understandable.
Don't pronouce it with the "a" sound at the end of louboutin like oprah.
Voila!
Reply:You pronounce it:
Christian (Cah-resh-tin)
Louboutin (Low-boo-tun)
Reply:chris-chin la-boo-tin
Reply:kris-tee-on loo-boo-tan.
Try to say the an and on with your nose.
trust me I am french....

It provides the right pronunciation.
I tested it in my own language, Dutch.
But you can also key in, French, Spanish, German,
Italian etc words, names, or even whole sentences.
Don't forget to choose the right voice (= language).

The last part being 'course the trickiest for English speakers, since it's pronounced the French way and English speakers never use the sound. We kind of swallow the last "n" and don't pronounce it and pronounce the e differently, can't find a word off the top of my head in the English language which has a similiar tone, though.

What was the Christian name received by Barrack Hussein Obama when he was baptised into the Christian faith?
When someone is baptised into the Christian faith, they receive a baptismal or Christian name. Barrack Hussein Obama claims that he was baptised and is a practising Christian. Fine. what was the Christian name that he was given at the time of his Baptism.
What was the Christian name received by Barrack Hussein Obama when he was baptised into the Christian faith?
Probably 'Barrack Hussein Obama'
Reply:Is there any reason to believe that it's not Barrack Hussein Obama? Why can't his name be a Christian one?
A little background on Arabic names:
To an extent most Christian Arabs have names that are indistinguishable from those of their Muslim neighbors, but Christian Arabs do not use specifically Muslim names such as Mohammed. There are also Arabic versions of Christian names (i.e. saints' names), and names of Greek, Armenian, or Assyrian origin.
Reply:His name is Barack Hussein Obama. I was baptized as a Christian when I was 8 and I didn't get a spacial name then. I was still known by the name my parents gave me when I was born. It's not like he became a monk or a nun, he just got baptized as a Christian. Take your bigotry elsewhere.
Egads, you're making me defend Obama!
Reply:Not all Christian denominations have that tradition. Some even educate their members so they understand that. Some only promote a narrow and intolerant approach. Your question makes it quite apparent what camp you are in.

What was the name of the Christian sect that believed Jesus to be a rebel against a 'tyrannical God'?
I believe that it was extant at some point during the middle-ages, before being massively persecuted and driven to extinction.
Thank you in advance for any help
What was the name of the Christian sect that believed Jesus to be a rebel against a 'tyrannical God'?
The Gnostics, they are still extant and they have never been considered a sect of Christianity.
edit:
Come think of it, the Gnostics believe that the God who created this world is either evil or deluded and the "real God" is considered benevolent not tyrannical, so I may be wrong.
Reply:The Gnostics.
Although Gnostic Christianity is no longer around, there are still some Gnostic religions around today.
Eg: Mandeanism, which follows St. John the Baptist.
Reply:Most Gnostics don't believe that Jesus rebelled against a tyrannical God or that the creator of the world is evil. So they can't be seen as Gnostic ideas. Gnosis means knowledge, it's a broad umbrella. Gnostics follow the true teachings of Jesus as set out in the books written by people that knew Him. I don't know the answer to your question, but Gnostics were also persecuted because they were the competition. Jesus spoke of a loving God, that is Gnowledge.
Reply:i don't know
Reply:Gnostics.
It seems they actually READ the bible.
Reply:Yes, it is the Gnostics, but "John D" is incorrect when he claims they have never been considered "Christians." Christian is a term that loosely applies to ANY religion/faith that acknowledges Jesus Christ as the basis of their faith (including Gnostics, Catholics, Baptists, Cathars, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc., etc.). Claiming they are not Christian is arrogance no different than the long-standing feud between all the "Christian" denominations that each claim they are the ONLY sect that correctly believes and therefore can claim the title of Christian.

What is the origin of the female Christian name "Wendy"....?
Is it true - as I have recently been told- that this name was actually invented by J. M. Barrie for the character in the book "Peter Pan" and that no such name existed prior to the writing of this book?

I do not think that "Wendy" has any link with Christianity in fact it was a neck name which is now in use.

Gender: Feminine
Usage: English
Pronounced: WEN-dee [key]
Probably first used in J. M. Barrie's play 'Peter Pan' in 1904. It was from the nickname fwendy "friend", given to the author by a young friend. However, there is some evidence that the name may have been used prior to the play, in which case it could be related to the Welsh name GWENDOLEN or other names beginning with gwen meaning "white, fair, blessed".

Is is wrong to name your son Christian if you are catholic?
Personally, I loved the name Christian when I was a little girl... however, as I grew older I started to move away from the name because of the religious overtones...
I don't think that there is anything wrong with using the name... but if you are concerned, ask your pastor (priest?)

Why is the name of the christian God capitalised but no of the others?
when referring to other gods, why is it that they aren't given special treatment like the christian god, after all they are just one god amongst thousands.
Why is the name of the christian God capitalised but no of the others?
Yes, it麓s like a cat
Reply:You seriously need to think about the context where you got these ideas from: an english speaking, Christian context is obviously biased to those things.
This is only because you are living in a Christian society. If you lived in some certain societies, they would refer to the Christian "God" as "some other false god" and their own god would be spoken of with reverence.
Actually, the name of the Judeochristian god is Yahweh, but I bet you didn't know this because you are most likely ignorant of the history of the religion you claim to follow. This is something of a prejudice in the English language where Christianity made the name of their deity the same as the English word for a god (God is god). The word "god" comes from the Proto-germanic translation of the Greek word "deus" which comes from the base "dyeu-" which means "to gleam", "to shine".
So now because of your upbringing in a Christian society speaking English, you think only your god gets to be capitalized and that his "name" is God. Hilarious.
Reply:Because Christians believe in One Supreme Being, King of kings and Lord of lords. He created heaven and earth and everything in them. He sustains all creation and powerful and mighty above all those who are called"gods". He is coming one day to judge the living and the dead and will destroy who love darkness rather than light.
Reply:Because he is the Creator. God is a title. When referring to the Creator (God) the G is in capital letters to distinguish him from those called gods in heaven and on earth. Those called gods were created by the Creator (e.g., angels, human judges) or by his creation ( e.g., Zeus, Dagon, etc)
God and those called gods all have personal names. All personal names must be in capital letters.
http://www.counterfeitchristians.info/
Reply:I don't capitalize "god" when I'm referring to the christian version of god or any other one because it is a title not a name. If I am referring to a specific god, such as Odin, I capitalize the name.
Reply:They are always capitalized when writing about a specific deity (treated like a common name). The word "god" is lowercase when talking about a type of being.
Reply:The word is capitalised only by the followers of the particular deity. Non-Christians don't capitalise, unless it's out of long habit.
Reply:All personal names should be capitalized, but not necessarily TITLES.
Reply:He is the God of creation. He deserve total reverence. His name should be use carefully. Not used casually, or with contempt.

I believe that it was extant at some point during the middle-ages, before being massively persecuted and driven to extinction.

Yes, it is the Gnostics, but "John D" is incorrect when he claims they have never been considered "Christians." Christian is a term that loosely applies to ANY religion/faith that acknowledges Jesus Christ as the basis of their faith (including Gnostics, Catholics, Baptists, Cathars, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc., etc.). Claiming they are not Christian is arrogance no different than the long-standing feud between all the "Christian" denominations that each claim they are the ONLY sect that correctly believes and therefore can claim the title of Christian.
Reply:The Gnostics, they are still extant and they have never been considered a sect of Christianity.
edit:
Come think of it, the Gnostics believe that the God who created this world is either evil or deluded and the "real God" is considered benevolent not tyrannical, so I may be wrong.

It seems they actually READ the bible.

I don't know the answer to your question, but Gnostics were also persecuted because they were the competition. Jesus spoke of a loving God, that is Gnowledge.

The last part being 'course the trickiest for English speakers, since it's pronounced the French way and English speakers never use the sound. We kind of swallow the last "n" and don't pronounce it and pronounce the e differently, can't find a word off the top of my head in the English language which has a similiar tone, though.

Reply:The Gnostics.
Although Gnostic Christianity is no longer around, there are still some Gnostic religions around today.
Eg: Mandeanism, which follows St. John the Baptist.
Reply:Gnostics.
It seems they actually READ the bible.

Cecil Rochford D'Oyly John - 1906-1993. If you can't get enough information off the many sites which mention him on Google, then ask the librarian at Tate Britain. The library has many reference books on British artists, and you are asking about quite a well-known one.

The last part being 'course the trickiest for English speakers, since it's pronounced the French way and English speakers never use the sound. We kind of swallow the last "n" and don't pronounce it and pronounce the e differently, can't find a word off the top of my head in the English language which has a similiar tone, though.

Gnostics.
It seems they actually READ the bible.
Reply:The Gnostics, they are still extant and they have never been considered a sect of Christianity.
edit:
Come think of it, the Gnostics believe that the God who created this world is either evil or deluded and the "real God" is considered benevolent not tyrannical, so I may be wrong.
Reply:i don't know
Reply:The Gnostics.

Does anyone have details of the artist called Doyly John. Not sure of spelling of christian name.?
He used to paint mediterranean scenes using bright bold colours using a palette knife. His work could be bought in private gallery in Manchester in the 1960's.
Does anyone have details of the artist called Doyly John. Not sure of spelling of christian name.?
Cecil Rochford D'Oyly John - 1906-1993. If you can't get enough information off the many sites which mention him on Google, then ask the librarian at Tate Britain. The library has many reference books on British artists, and you are asking about quite a well-known one.
Reply:If you google his name as you spelled it you will get many sites up about him. There is one about his biography, but it seems to have a server problem at the moment.

What is the origin of the female Christian name "Wendy"....?
Is it true - as I have recently been told- that this name was actually invented by J. M. Barrie for the character in the book "Peter Pan" and that no such name existed prior to the writing of this book?
What is the origin of the female Christian name "Wendy"....?
I do not think that "Wendy" has any link with Christianity in fact it was a neck name which is now in use.

Reply:My mothers name is Wendy and the origins are true.
Actually my aunt named her as she and my nan went to watch Peter Pan in the cinema and my aunt suggested it.
Doing a search on the meaning I found this:
"From friendy-wendy. Invented by J M Barrie for Peter Pan."
Reply:WENDY

I believe that it was extant at some point during the middle-ages, before being massively persecuted and driven to extinction.

Gnostics.
It seems they actually READ the bible.

Although Gnostic Christianity is no longer around, there are still some Gnostic religions around today.
Eg: Mandeanism, which follows St. John the Baptist.

He used to paint mediterranean scenes using bright bold colours using a palette knife. His work could be bought in private gallery in Manchester in the 1960's.

Actually my aunt named her as she and my nan went to watch Peter Pan in the cinema and my aunt suggested it.
Doing a search on the meaning I found this:
"From friendy-wendy. Invented by J M Barrie for Peter Pan."
Reply:WENDY

Reply:yes its true are you wendy?its meaning is nomad, from wendy

Reply:My mothers name is Wendy and the origins are true.
Actually my aunt named her as she and my nan went to watch Peter Pan in the cinema and my aunt suggested it.
Doing a search on the meaning I found this:
"From friendy-wendy. Invented by J M Barrie for Peter Pan."
Reply:WENDY

The last part being 'course the trickiest for English speakers, since it's pronounced the French way and English speakers never use the sound. We kind of swallow the last "n" and don't pronounce it and pronounce the e differently, can't find a word off the top of my head in the English language which has a similiar tone, though.

The Gnostics.
Although Gnostic Christianity is no longer around, there are still some Gnostic religions around today.
Eg: Mandeanism, which follows St. John the Baptist.
Reply:Gnostics.
It seems they actually READ the bible.
Reply:i don't know
Reply:Most Gnostics don't believe that Jesus rebelled against a tyrannical God or that the creator of the world is evil.
Reply:The Gnostics, they are still extant and they have never been considered a sect of Christianity.
edit:
Come think of it, the Gnostics believe that the God who created this world is either evil or deluded and the "real God" is considered benevolent not tyrannical, so I may be wrong.
